Vicarious (Secondary) Trauma

Vicarious (secondary) Trauma is a very real phenomenon, and all those working in health and social care (especially those working with inter-personal trauma survivors) need to develop both an awareness of exactly what constitutes vicarious / secondary trauma as well as strategies to mitigate against its impact. Health and social care professionals are human and emotional beings and events frequently have a profound impact on them. Left unresolved, those can subtly and subconsciously develop into both physical and mental health issues. No one is Teflon coated!
