Training for Those Working with Substance Users

Legal (and recently legal) Highs: The New Drugs

Barely a day has gone by in the last few months without some story on "legal highs" in the media. Mephedrone (also known as m-cat and meow-meow) has been made illegal, but the range of drugs that people can have legally delivered in the post continues to increase and perplex. The range of drugs people can have legally delivered to their doors at present can be both bewildering and concerning.

Usual course length: 1 day

Courses can be tailor-made from the following elements:

  • Examining the 'myths' that have sprung up around legal highs and research chemicals
  • Establishing the range of substances which count as legal (or recently legal) highs
  • Outlining the effects (and side-effects) of these drugs
  • Clarifying the legal situation after the most recent changes (especially around BZP,
Spice, GBL, Mephedrone / Meow Meow and NRG1)
  • Determining the challenges for staff and services if clients are using these drugs
All our our Substance Use courses are mapped to the relevant DANOS Units.
