Inducting Peer Employees
Usual course length: 2-3 days
Involving peers and service users in service delivery is an increasing and highly worthwhile venture. It can improve understanding around a 'client-centred approach' within the organisation and also can help to affirm what staff do on a day-to-day basis.
To improve the transition from service user to professional member of staff it is crucial to have a focused and effective induction system in place to ensure roles, responsibilities and boundaries are fully understood and implemented.
Courses can be tailor-made from the following elements:
- Understanding your organisation – it’s goals, structures and stakeholders
- Working for your organisation – it’s policies and why they are in place, your duties and rights
- Developing peer employees through support, supervision and appraisal
- How boundaries can be tested in the new role (and how they can be effectively maintained)
- Using communication and time management tools
