Courses can be tailor-made from the following elements:

  • Exploring the reasons why people offend, and challenging assumptions
  • Key criminological theories and how they relate to real life practice
  • Looking at what is meant by "criminogenic needs" and how to provide services that are person-centred, outcome-focused and safe
  • The purpose and function of OASys and assessing the support needs of offenders
  • Providing participants with an opportunity to review their approach to assessments and support planning as it relates to working with people who offend
  • Exploring "desistance" in order to understand what really works and what you can do to support moving away from patterns of offending
  • Familiarising participants with a range of 'good practice' tools and approaches to facilitate behaviour change, and reduce offending behaviour
  • Increasing participants' confidence when working with people who offend.
