Dr Iain Bourne has been delivering this unique course for many years and is well known and respected in the social care field.

His background is in forensic mental health, which he brings to the training experience. The training style used on the course is like ‘fringe theatre ’ and highly impactful!

The aim of this day is to take participants on a fascinating and practical journey through the world of violence and danger. The training unfolds through a series of critical incidents that are narrated and dramatised before the group, bringing the material to life and allowing the participants to consider in detail the point of crisis and the skills needed to achieve a successful resolution.

It is vivid, even scary in places. We think you will get a lot out of this day!

Participants will learn:

  • How to identify different types and levels of violence and aggression
  • Skills to respond to those different types of behaviour
  • How to manage their own physical and emotional responses when under threat
  • Effective ways to work alongside colleagues in a crisis
