June & July 2011 Sessions

I hope you have been enjoying the warm weather. We are delighted to inform you of two forthcoming sessions of LRF.

Based on feedback in your evaluation forms, we'll be running a series of sessions on Communication Skills over the summer and autumn. Specifically, we’ll be focusing on how respected models can influence how we communicate better with our service users. On 22 June, Kevin Rothero, an independent trainer and consultant, will lead the session on what we can learn from Motivational Interviewing. This approach aims to influence people's motivation to change by adopting a collaborative counseling approach and through a specific focus on people's readiness, ability and willingness to change. This session will explore the key concepts that underpin MI and give participants an opportunity to consider the relevance of this approach to their own work

We won’t be neglecting other subjects though. On 20 July the session will be on Supporting Women to Exit Prostitution, and will be led by staff from the Scarlet Centre, Eaves Housing for Women. After an introduction on the ethos and principles of their services, the session will focus on the myths and stereotypes around prostitution, and what is involved in effectively supporting women to move away from sex-working.

Both sessions will be held in Central London and will run from 2.30-4.30.

As you may know, LRF sessions are very popular. To ensure fairness, we ask that you contact us at the email address below to request places.
